Reflector

The Reflector is the rarest type in Human Design: about one percent of people. A Reflector has not a single defined center in the Bodygraph — all nine are open. This is not vulnerability and not emptiness: it is a special design that allows them to perceive the auras of those around them with a precision unavailable to other types.

The Reflector's aura is sampling. It doesn't attract, doesn't repel, doesn't direct — it touches and reads. The Reflector literally mirrors the state of whatever space they enter: people, groups, organizations. When the environment around them is healthy, the Reflector blossoms. When the environment is toxic or false, it immediately shows in their well-being and mood. The Reflector is a living indicator of a collective's quality.

Since all the centers are open, the Reflector moves through different states and roles depending on their surroundings and the lunar cycle. The Moon is their natural rhythm. It passes through all the gates of the Mandala in roughly 28 days, and it is this cycle that sets the Reflector's inner change of phases. Each day they may feel slightly different — and this is not inconstancy of character but the way their nature is built.

Strategy: wait a full lunar cycle before an important decision. Not because indecision is a virtue, but because over 28 days a Reflector manages to view the question from many sides and hear what couldn't be heard at first. A decision made at the peak of an impulse often turns out to be someone else's — borrowed from whoever's aura was nearby. A decision held through the cycle is their own.

The Reflector's signature in alignment is delight — not quiet satisfaction, but a live, genuine amazement at life. When a Reflector is in the right environment, they visibly blossom — and they feel it themselves.

The Not-Self state is disappointment. It comes when a Reflector stays too long in an environment that doesn't nourish them, or adopts other people's decisions as their own without waiting out the cycle. The chase after stability is the main trap: the Reflector's nature is fluid, and trying to fix themselves in one role or one image comes at a high cost.

In practice this means: for a Reflector, the choice of environment matters more than a career plan. The right place is not a metaphor but the literal foundation of well-being. The setting, the people nearby, the city — all of it affects a Reflector more strongly than any other type. And that is exactly why the ability to say "no" to the wrong environment is their core skill, not a weakness.
