Yang Wood (甲)

Picture a tree that doesn't creep along the ground and doesn't wind around a support, but drives its trunk upward — one line, toward the light. That is 甲, your Day Master: the core of your character, the element your personality is built from. Not a bush, not a vine, but a tall tree with a clear direction of growth. Being first comes naturally to you — not out of vanity, but because you are literally built as something that reaches forward and upward, cutting a path where none exists yet.

This is your strength: you grow in a straight line. You have an inner axis — principles, direction, a sense of "this is right" — and everything else accretes around it. People lean on a trunk like that, they follow it, because it holds its shape under load. You know how to begin, to gain height, not to fritter yourself away on side shoots. Where others zigzag, you've already drawn the line and are walking it.

But the trunk has a price, and it's not some abstract "weakness." A tree is strong while it stands straight — and it breaks exactly where it should have bent. Your inflexibility isn't always a whim; more often it's loyalty to your own axis taken to the limit. You can dig in on a principle when the situation calls for give, and hold the position until it cracks, instead of yielding to the wind and surviving. The reed bends and lives — the oak stands and falls.

Maturity for 甲 is not to stop being a trunk, but to tell apart where it's a backbone and where it's just stubbornness wearing its mask. Straightness where it holds — and living movement where rigidity only breaks.
