Sun in Scorpio

Sun in Scorpio means you find yourself through intense experience: your personality grows stronger in the crises you have managed to come through. In a birth chart the Sun is the core of your personality and your will. Scorpio is a water sign in the middle of autumn, and astrologers call the signs in the middle of a season fixed: they hold on to what has begun. It is ruled by Mars, and in the modern tradition also by Pluto. The Sun, open by nature, has to work in the depths here, so your will is concentrated and turned inward as much as outward.

Water gives sharp feelings and a nose for other people's motives and weak spots. A fixed sign turns this into endurance: you do not look away from what is hard, and you do not let go of what you have chosen. Mars adds the force of desire and a readiness to go where others will not, towards what is hidden and forbidden. The strength of this placement is insight and stamina in a crisis, and also a gift for change, your own and other people's. You often act behind the scenes, which gives you strategic instinct and a pull towards control. The vulnerability lies in the very force of your feelings. They are never half-hearted, and the need for complete trust makes betrayal almost unbearable.

The danger for the Sun in Scorpio is that strength easily turns into control. The fear of being vulnerable becomes suspicion and testing people's limits, and a temptation appears to steer people through their weak spots. The same power works for change, your own and other people's. What would happen if next time, instead of testing someone with silence or a trick question, you said plainly what you are afraid of? You might start with one close person you tell about your doubts straight away, without a long test.
